Klafuti: The Simplicity of French Cuisine in a Tasty Dessert


What is fantastic about the Klafuti dessert? All ingredients are prepared in one dish, is baked quickly and is so versatile that you can cook with any fruit (fresh or frozen).

The original recipe for Klafuti requires the use of cherries, but if you can not find in supermarkets, feel free to use the fruit you like. Grapes, sour cherries, raspberries, plums ….

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 200 g. (7 oz.) cherries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp cream
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 50 g. (1 .75 oz.) sugar
  • 30 g. (1 oz.) flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Preheat the oven to 180° C/356°. Wash the fruit and put it in a greasy pan.

In a bowl mix the eggs, butter and sugar until the sugar is melted. Then add the milk, cream, vanilla extract and flour. The resulting mixture will be more liquid (due to the small amount of flour), but it is appropriate that the recipe requires.

Pour the mixture into the greasy pan and bake for 30-35 minutes. At the end of the cooking check with a toothpick if the Klafuti is baked enough.

Once you wait to cool down, you can sprinkle with powdered sugar.
